How to make a Lightroom profile

  1. Click Make a Lightroom profile and open a photo.
  2. Build your look: a film look, curves, color grading and color mixer.
  3. On the Save tab, click Download Lightroom profile (.xmp).
  4. In Lightroom, choose File > Import Profiles & Presets; in Lightroom Classic, File > Import Develop Profiles and Presets.

Why a profile instead of a preset?

A preset moves Lightroom's sliders. A profile is applied underneath them, so it leaves your sliders free, and it comes with an Amount slider to dial the look from 0 to 200%. That makes it easy to use the same look across a whole shoot and adjust it per photo.

What's included

The profile holds the color and tone of your look. Grain, halation, diffusion, sharpening and vignette depend on neighboring pixels and aren't part of a profile, so add those in Lightroom's Effects and Detail panels.

Works in Lightroom and Camera Raw

The profile works in Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop, on any photo, RAW or JPEG.
